After receiving training at the Hawkesbury Agricultural College, James Bennett applied for a block at Hillview, Liverpool. He made the original application on or about 20 May 1919. His block consisted of six acres and was in the County of Cumberland, Parish of St.Luke, Parramatta Land District. He started at Hillview on 17 May 1920.
