Robert Johnson Simes took out a lease for six years of 75 acres part of Portion 83, Land District of Lismore, Parish of Dunoon, County of Rous at an annual rental of £112.10.00. He applied for his loan November 1919. The portion was a small part of 228 acres that was mortgaged to the Bank of NSW. He wanted to use it for dairying. Robert and his brother Charles Williams Simes (Loan 3030) leased the land from their mother, Martha.
He took up continuous residence on 5 July 1922.
In 1924, there was some misunderstanding about Simes obtaining his father to act as security for amounts still owed in relation to his loan. From the middle of 1926 until 22 April 1927 the argument continued about money owed. The Department stated that he still owed £1.19.6 whereas he believed he had in fact paid back £1.4.4.above the amount owed.
Simes had repaid the amount by 28 May 1927.
