Roy Tate took up a block of 172 acres in the Parish of Calderwood, Berrima Land District. He applied for his loan on 13 September 1921 stating in his application that he wanted the money for the purchase of stock, plant, straw and a gate.[1] He was having a difficult time on his block in March 1927 due to a terrible drought, so he wrote to the Under Secretary asking for a reduction in his loan payment. He hoped this could be done as he had in the past, been making every effort to reduce his debts. He had repaid his advance in full by 26 July 1928.[2]
